Astonishing coastal flooding, to say the least.

The water level during superstorm Sandy climbed to 8.9 feet above the ground on Sandy Hook, 4.7 feet at One World Trade Center and 4.4 feet in Seaside Heights, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Other peak inundation levels (the storm surge plus the astronomical tide level) include 7.9 feet in Oakville on Staten Island, 5.6 feet in Breezy Point in Queens and 2.6 feet in Boston, Mass., according to NOAA's Coastal Services Center.

That's a lot of water and let's hope we don't see a repeat anytime soon.

By the way, these inundation levels don't count the huge waves on top of the storm surge and tide.
